Comparative analysis of selected business indicators of state forest companies

A company that handles natural resources such as forests is a complex economic entity. In addition to performance at annual level, the biological component of sustainable forest management should also be considered. It therefore extremely important achieve efficient business performance. The paper presents main state-owned companies in selected countries South East Europe (Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia Herzegovina, North Macedonia) using method comparative based on (such balance sheet income statement). where there are more than one companies, they were according their importance for results (share forests, number employees, profit felling). research show revenue expenditure profitability return equity (ROE) assets (ROA). According 2017 2018, Croatian Forests Ltd. has highest employees (7787 2018). ratio ROA (32.17) ROE (39.82) achieved Slovenian state forestry 2017, which was founded 2016. For best Forest Company (SiDG), while weakest State Macedonia. per employee decreased 2018 most but significantly Macedonia, it four times lower. On basis presented, all have positive cost-benefit ratio, long-term planning follow regulations competitive free market.
